Free Consultation

When you request a free consultation, one of our doulas will meet with you at a coffee shop near you to discuss what a doula does, how a doula can improve your birth experience, and what to expect should you hire one of us. There is no obligation to hire, but you will be given a contract to look over and discuss.

Phone & Email Support

After you hire an All in the Nest Doula, you will have continuous phone and email support throughout your pregnancy and for six weeks postpartum.

2 Prenatal Visits

Your doula will meet with you at least two additional times during your pregnancy to discuss and create your birth plan, practice comfort measures, and help you prepare in other ways for your birth. Your doula will also want to attend one of your care provider appointments with you for one of these visits, so that she can introduce herself and become aware of the birth team and environment.

Professional Information

One of our roles is to help you make informed decisions, before, during, and after delivery. As DONA doulas, our goal is to stay up to date on current research and evidence based practices. We will help you find current studies and the best research on important topics, so that you can make decisions about interventions and procedures ahead of time.

As Doulas,
We Do Not:

During labor

Your doula will be on call for you from two weeks before your due date to two weeks after. When you go into labor, you will keep your doula updated with phone calls, and she will join you when you need her at your home or birthing location. She will be present throughout your delivery and up to two hours postpartum to ensure that bonding and breastfeeding are well underway.

The doula is dad's biggest cheerleader and ally during labor. She will help him to help mom through contractions, and allow him relief should he need a break during long labor.

Baby’s first feeding Support

Your doula is trained and experienced with breastfeeding, and will be supportive and knowledgable to help your breast feeding relationship start well. If additional help is required, she will refer you to nearby lactation consultants.

Perform any clinical tasks

We are not trained to do medical tasks, such as administer pain medication, check fetal heart rate, or monitor mother’s medical signs. You will have a care provider who is responsible for your medical care, while your doula is there to provide emotional and physical support drawn from knowledge, experience, and training. We can provide acupressure, positioning technique, heating and cooling relief, soothing touch, affirmations, counter pressure, essential oils, and other elements for natural pain relief.

Make decisions for you

Your doula will know your birth desires, but will not make any decisions for you during labor. She will remind you of your preferences as the options arise, and help you understand what is happening during labor or as your caregiver makes suggestions. Ultimately, your doula is there to empower you to make informed decisions about your birth experience, so that you can feel successful and proud of your birth.

Postpartum follow-up visit

After delivery and your immediate postpartum, your doula will visit you at your home two times - one visit after a few days, and another two or three weeks later. These visits are to ensure that you and the baby are doing well healing, bonding, and breast feeding, answer any newborn questions you have, relive your birth experience through conversation, and get feedback from you on your doula care. Your doula is also still available through phone and email for six weeks.

Community Referrals

We have developed an extensive list of local professionals to help you navigate your pregnancy and postpartum experience. If you are looking for a chiropractor, birth class, acupuncturist, midwife, lactation consultant, or any other birth or parenting related resource, your doula will be glad to provide you with several contacts.

Package Price: $900.00

Speak to the staff on your behalf

You are the one receiving the medical attention, and your doula will not speak to the staff on your behalf. Should you need more information, or to make a change in your care, your doula will encourage you or your partner to speak to the staff. Your doula will help translate to you what the care provider is suggesting, and allow you to talk through your options, but ultimately you will make all of the decisions and communicate your wishes to the care team.

Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience

The doula’s role is to support, cheer, love, and inform the mother and her family during pregnancy, labor, and beyond. The goal is for you and your partner to feel empowered and informed to make wise decisions about your own care and birth experience. We can provide you with evidence based research and studies should you wish, and we are glad to help you think through your options, but we will respect your decisions and support you no matter what. We love birth, whether is occurs in a hospital with an epidural or in your living room in a rented birth tub. This is your birth, and you will remember it forever.
